Task 1

LECTURES

Week 1:
For our first class we went through some slides detailing what our module would be about and what the projects are going to be in the future. We were also told what equipment to get for our first

Week 2:
We were introduced to the concept of different shots, framing and storyboarding such as Medium Shots or Close-up Shots. We watched several videos about the different ways to shoot a video and he asked us what type of shots were being used. Then we learnt about camera angles, whether it should be placed high and what it meant when it is positioned like that.

Week 3:
This class taught us about plot segmentation and storytelling. How do we write a narrative properly and what is the difference between story and plot. We then did a small exercise where we watched a short film and dissected what the plot of the story is into bullet points.

Week 4:
We continued on to recap our previous lesson about plot and story. We then further discussed about 3 act structures - the beginning, middle, and end. The beginning would be the setup, the middle is where conflict or a confrontation occurs, and the ending is the resolution. Then we learned about sound in film such as speech and sound effects, as well as music and dubbing over videos.

Week 5:
In this class we learned about storyboarding and the process to how someone can storyboard a scene. There are so many different angles and shots that can be used. There are also some rules that need to be followed in order for the scenes to flow together in a way that makes sense.

Week 6:
For this class we further learn about using the program Adobe Premiere Pro and the settings that could be used for our videos.

Week 7:
We begin our preparations for our final project by attending stop motion class.

Week 8:
Independent learning week.

Week 9:
Preparations for final project, as well as other exercises to complete. The class is used to gain feedback about our proposals.

Week 10:
Again, this class was only to obtain feedback for our proposals. Further preparations for final project are made.

Week 11:
Public holiday.

INSTRUCTIONS

Exercise 1: Editing Exercise

Our first in-class editing task was to put together clips of an advert in order, although it was already labelled in what order it should be put in. This was simply to get us familiar with the editing software known as Adobe Premiere Pro.

Our next task was to put clips of another ad together in order, it was all jumbled up into a mess before. It was a tad bit difficult to structure since I had never seen this commercial before so it took a while to put together even if it was only 30 seconds long.

Exercise 2:

I used my little brother as the model for this exercise. The camera is a little bit shaky because I did not use a tripod, but for future exercises I'll already have one by then.

Audio editing exercise 1:

Audio exercise 2:

Voice in bathroom

Voice in cave

Voice inside closet

Voice in a stadium

Voice in a call

Audio Exercise 3

Explosion magnified

Punch echo

Punch low pitch

Punch reverb
