LECTURES

Week 5: We went through a new system of marking our work with Mr Charles where we scored our own marks for the submissions we give in. Its to help us track our progress. Then we went through various images and examples of work that reflected that week's topic of harmony and unity.

Week 6: After looking through feedback for last week's task, we learnt about symbols and typography. We looked at movie posters to see the different compositions of text and images, as well as brand logos to see how the symbol have been created.

Week 7: This lecture was rather short and all we discussed about was the project about our self portraits.

Week 6: Symbol, Image and Words

Symbols are a unique concept that only us human beings have created to communicate with each other. No other animals seem to communicate through this way, it's special to our species that separates us from them. In some cases symbols can have simple meanings, for example an X shape would just mean 'no'. Some other symbols have deeper meanings to them, whether they belong to a certain culture or religion.

I wanted to look into some symbols from my home country, Indonesia. What showed in google wasn't exactly what I was expecting but it still worked with the topic.

These are simple and easy enough to execute, as well as easily conveying the messages that were intended. For example the gecko or lizard on the bottom left is a common creature to be found in Indonesia (southeast Asia in general, honestly.) The durian is an incredibly popular fruit there too.

I wanted to use iconic animals from Indonesia for the concepts of my symbol. The komodo dragon is probably what I'll end up using for my final since I find that reptile super cool compared to the bird.

    . I think the symbol is great! but no text to complement the symbol and no rationale?

 26/10/2023 PDW Reflection Report During the beginning of week 8, I was looking forward to attending the webinars that were organized by our lecturers and Mr. Izwal. The ones that I have chosen were focused on tips in the workplace and interviews as well as insights into the creative industry. One of the few companies that helped put it all together were Allianz, GSK and C47 Creative. INTERCULTURAL DESIGN

03.01.2022 -  25.02.2022 Haura Laiqa Naznin / 0345050 / Bachelors of Design in Creative Media Intercultural Design Task 1 LECTURES Week 1: Introduced to what the module was all about. We were put into groups, or more like we chose ourselves who we wanted to work with. Our main theme for this entire semester is 'Purpose' and we had to research into a culture of our choice. The end goal is to come up with a design that embodies the theme and relates to the culture. Week 2: Consultation with Mr Vinod who was assigned to be our group's supervisor. We had some basic ideas in mind already but he helped us understand what our task actually was. It was a class consisting mostly of feedback and progress checking. Week 3: We presented our final proposal, or as final our proposal can be to Mr. Vinod who checked every other group's proposals as well for feedback. WEEK 1 When being briefed about what we were going to do for this project, my mind was swirling with ideas. I kept thinking about how to incorporate what I was best at - which is character design - with something that was more interesting than a simple illustrative poster. A lot of ideas came and went such as animatics and comics, but I thought that it would give me too much stress and I was not very experienced in those to confidently execute it yet.
